Matomo web analysis
We use the open-source Matomo software tool (formerly PIWIK) on our website to analyse the surfing record of our users (Legal basis is art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR). The software places a cookie on the user’s computer. When individual pages of our website are visited the following data is stored:
- two bytes of the IP address of the user’s retrieving system,
- the browser type and version you use,
- the operating system you use,
- your country of origin,
- date and time of the server inquiry,
- number of visits,
- the period of time you spend on our website,
- the external links used by you.
The software runs only on the servers for our website. The users’ personal data are only stored there. The data are not passed on to third parties.
The software is set so that the IP addresses are not fully stored; two bytes of the IP address are masked (e.g.: 192.168.xxx.xxx). This means that it is impossible to relate the shortened IP address to the accessing computer.
The processing of the users‘ personal data makes it possible for us to analyse our users‘ surfing history. By evaluating the data harvested we are enabled to gather information on the use of the individual components of our website. This helps us continually to improve our website and its user-friendliness. These purposes constitute our justified interest in the processing of the data under art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. By anonymizing the IP-address the users‘ interest in the protection of their personal data is adequately taken into account.
The data are deleted as soon as they no longer needed for our recording purposes. This is after 182 days in our case.
You can decide here whether a clear web analysis cookie can be placed on your browser in order to make it possible for the operators of the website to collect and analyse various statistical data.
If you wish to decide against this, click on the following link to place the Matomo deactivation cookie on your browser.
When users delete their cookies this does however mean that the opt-out cookie is deleted and thus has to be reactivated by users.
